Rob Scholte

Dutch Amsterdam 1958

Originality does not exist for Rob Scholte. Reproductions are of main importance in his art. Scholte copies in a precise, realist style existing images from the media, publicity and picture books.

He is well known for his impressive work in Nagasaki Japan. There Scholte decorated the walls and ceiling of the Huis Ten Bosch building; this painting entitled ‘Apres nous le deluge’ measures 1200 square metres. For years he worked with a large number of assistants on the painting.

An attempt on his life in 1994, with a car bomb, changed Scholte’s existence drastically.

His work can be find all over the world.
